X is a Punk Rock Band from Los Angeles. They are considered one of the most accessible and tuneful of Los Angeles's many Punk Bands. One of their successful album is Wild Gift.

X was formed in Los Angeles, California in 1997. The original members were "Exene Cervenka" on vocals, "John Doe" on bass, "Billy Zoom" on guitar and "DJ Bonebrake" on drums.
They first signed a recording contract under the independent label, "Dangerhouse". They released two singles, "Los Angeles" and "Adult Books". After which they signed a recording contract under Slash Records and issue its first LP, Los Angeles. The LP was a minor hit. They released their album, Wild Gift in 1981. The album was named Record of The Year by Rolling Stone, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times and Village Voice.
In 1982, they signed a recording contract under Elektra Records and released their album, Under The Big Black Sun. It features three hit singles, "Riding With Mary", "Come Back To Me" and "Under The Big Black Sun". Their next album, More Fun in The New World was released in 1983.
