About
Wilson Phillips is a female vocal trio which consists of sisters, Carnie and Wendy Wilson, daughter of Beach Boy Brian Wilson, and Chynna Phillips,daughter of Joan and Michelle Phillips of the Mama's and The Papas. The trio all grew up together in Southern California; where they shared a love of music and songwriting together. The girls signed under SBK Records in 1989 and started recording for their first album as a group.
They released their self-titled debut album in 1990 and with it they released their first single entitled "Hold On" which was a chartbusting hit, claiming the #1 spot on the US Billboard Charts. Their next singles, "Release Me" and "Your in Love" also landed #1 in the US Billboard Charts while the group's other single, "Impulsive" chartered #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album sold over 4 million copies worldwide and debuted #2 on the Billboard Top 20.
In 1992, they released their sophomore album, Shadows and Light which include their single, "You Won't See Me Cry" which landed #20 in the Billboard Charts. The album
peaked at #4 on the Billboard Top 200. After the release of their second album, the group decided to split up and went off their separate ways. Wendy and Carnie has released a Christmas album in 1993 while Chynna released a solo album titled, Naked and Sacred.
Their compilation album, Greatest Hits was released in 2000. After four years, the trio decided to reunite and then released their album, California which debuted at #35 in the US Billboard Charts. Their single, "Go Your Own Way" reached #13 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart.

- Chynna Phillips dated session guitarist Michael Landau around the time of the release of Wilson Phillips' debut album. Landau's solo album "Tales from the Bulge," released in 1989, features an instrumental ballad called "Chynna."
