William Hung, is an example of strong spirit who faced his weaknesses and turn it into strength. No one would expected that this amateur singer will be given a chance and have his own album to carry. This fame that he received started when he was given a 15-minute audition for a popular star search American Idol. Though the judges Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and the very strict juror Simon Cowell made fun of him, the viewers can't hide their love for this guy after performing the Ricky Martin hit She Bangs.

From the city of Sha Tin, Hong Kong, China an unbelievable artist was born on January 13, 1983 to become a star (or is it?). Out of the box from celebrity, Hung, is just only a typical man, who once dream to become a star someday. He moved to Southern California, United States in 1993. He graduated at John H. Francis Polytechnic High School in L.A. and then at the University of California in Berkeley on 2001 taking up Civil Engineering.
While studying, he auditioned for the third season of the American Idol. He was never advice that his audition would be televised and found out about it four months after. William Hung "did his best" in his 15 minutes of fame in the 2003 American Idol Eventhough he was never the judge's choice, his honesty, sweet and warm approach touched the hearts millions while two of the judges admired his positive response to criticism from Simon Cowell after his rendition of the song of former Menudo member Ricky Martin, 'She Bangs. He never thought that this will be the start of his new career.
He rapidly gained popularity everywhere with subsequent guestings on a number of TV shows in the US. People loved him and so does Koch Entertainment that they decided to give him a contract to become part of their company. He was also given a $25,000 surprise by Fuse music channel after performing his hit She Bangs during a volleyball game at University of California, Berkeley on February 18, 2003. The Koch Entertainment finally announced that Hung is now a part of music industry on March 8, 2003. On his first album Inspiration, recorded March 6 2003 and released on April 6, 2004, it includes the hit songs originally from The Village People Y.M.C.A, and of course Ricky Martin's She Bangs and Shake Your Bon Bon, and Elton John's Rocket Man. This album sold a total of 195,000 copies.
He promoted his album by performing in a field during a half time at Golden State Warriors with close to 20,000 audiences watching the game. Unbelievably, his album reached the top 10 on the Apple iTune charts, and became #3 at Amazon.com in terms of selling. The Fuse did not stop there they also release Idol Worship: The William Hung Story, which features Hung on his music video She Bangs.
On October 19, 2004, they also released a Christmas album, entitled Hung for the Holidays, which did well in the market. But, after releasing his third album, Miracle: Happy Summer from William Hung, which was released on July 12, 2005. It did not catch the attention of the people anymore. The sweet and jolly fame of Hung is then starting to fall apart. And just like what happened to him on the 15 minutes of fame he is also now on a pace to end a career in showbiz based on the poor sales it had. Thinking about it, he is still lucky at least he's known and will forever be devoted by people who once laughed and danced with his beat.
