After enjoying a whirlwind success in the Norway music scene, Maria Mena released her international debut album (originally targeted at the US market) entitled White Turns Blue, which was composed of a combination of tracks from her two local albums Mellow and Another Phase. It was released under Sony music in July 20, 2004.
The album broke through US album charts. Kanye West called Maria’s single "You Are the Only One the" “summer hit of 2004,” which also broke US singles charts, drove a small US tour, and culminated with a performance on The Late Show with David Letterman.
