Where I Wanna Be was released on October 12, 1999 by LaFace Records. This was the most successful album of Donell Jones having been certified platinum. The album features the hit single "U Know What's Up" peaking at no. 1 on the U.S. R&B chart.

Other singles released were "Shorty (Got Her Eyes on Me)", "This Luv" and "Where I Wanna Be".
