WhenBearsAttack is an American metalcore and hardcore band from Joliet, Illinois.

WhenBearsAttack originated as Blood Runs Cold after Danny (guitarist) and Diego (vocals) left the band eyessewnshut (now defunct).
After Blood Runs Cold decided to call it quits, Diego was gonna return to eyessewnshut as drummer but the band soon split up after 4 years of being active, but he was drummer for their final show. The two Blood Runs Cold members talked about bringing back the band at around the same time that friend Hector asked to start a band with Diego, so he was brought in as lead vocalist, and Carlos was asked to be second guitar, but ultimately switched to bass after a suitable bass player couldn't be found. As of December 9th, Hector was released from the band due to differences in which he and the rest of the band wanted to go. Matt Schnecke was brought in as rhythm guitar the same day. It was announced that Diego had made the switch from drummer to lead vocals when the band uploaded a recording of "2 Swoll 4 U" on their MySpace page. Danny left the band on March 9, 2008.

- Carlos was a founding member of eyessewnshut, and one of only two members that were a part of eyessewnshut the entire time the band was active.
- On the band's MySpace they say their name was taken from the male adult movie "When Bears Attack: Johnny's First Gang Bang" but in reality the name was taken from the Family Guy episode "And the Wiener Is...".
- Another name that the band used prior to deciding on their current name was "Story of a Cynic"
- Diego and Carlos are brothers.
- Diego was originally the drummer and did the drumming for the early recordings as well as lead vocals.
