[edit] About

Vitamin C (credited as Colleen Ann Fitzpatrick) was born July 20, 1969, in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Before becoming a singer, she first became a dancer during high school until she began participating in several bands.

In 1991, while attending New York University, she met guitarist Michael Kotch and they formed the punk/pop band, Eve's Plum where she stood as the lead singer. After a year, they landed a contract deal with Sony and released two albums, Envy (1993) and Cherry Alive (1995). Later on, she married Michael Kotch.

Aside from her singing career, Vitamin C also tried acting. Her first roles was in John Water's 1988 comedy film, Hairspray as Amber Von Tussle, followed by Higher Learning and Crinoline Head in 1995 and soon starred in big movies like Wes Craven's Dracula 2000 as Lucy, Get Over It with Kirsten Dunst, The Naked Gun 2 1/2, Liar Liar and The Mambo Kings.

Eventually, Vitamin C has left Eve's Plum and started to pursue a solo career. In 1998, she signed a deal with Elektra and released a self-titled debut album in 1999. The album featured two decent-sized hits, Smile and Me, Myself and I. The third single, Graduation (Friends/Forever) became certified hit in 2000, reached the Platinum-sales territory and even became the anthem for graduating classes all across the globe.

Apart from these commercial success, Vitamin C even embraced some marketing opportunities, licensing everything from a Mattel doll created after her to a Tommy Hilfiger lipstick shade matching her signature orange hair.

Toward the end of 2000, Vitamin C has released her second more mature album, More, that featured the singles The Itch and As long As You're Loving Me. But these two didn't followed the success of Graduation (Friends Forever) and the album failed to crack the Top 100.
