Villains was released on March 26, 1996 under RCA records. The The first single in the album "Photograph" reached in the top 10 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks. The second single "The Freshmen" peaked no.5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped in the Modern Rock chart. The album became Platinum and became the band's best selling album.
