Underneath is the third album of Hanson recorded at Rocket Carousel Studios. Released in 2004 under 3CG Records, the band's own independent record label.

Underneath was regarded as Hanson's highly-acclaimed album of 2004, with a production cost of $1.5 million and debuted upon released at #1 on Billboard's Independent sales chart and #25 on Billboard's top 200, making it one of the most successful self-released albums to date. In this album, the boys collaborated with Matthew Sweet on the song Underneath and Greg Alexander of The New Radicals on the song Lost Without Each Other. Underneath launches the new and re-packaged Hanson.
