Troop was formed in Pasadena, California in the late 80's by, "Steve Russel", "Allen McNeil", "John Harreld", "Rodney Benford" and "Reggie Warren". In 1988, they signed a recoding contract under Atlantic Records and released their blockbuster hit single, "Mamacita". It landed at #2 on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart. The single was included in their self-titled debut album. The album chartered at #19 on US R&B Albums Chart. Their next album, Attitude was issued in 1989 and reached #5 on US R&B Albums Chart. The album spawned the singles, "Spread My Wings" and "All I Do Is Think of You". These singles reached #1 in Billboard R&B Charts and spent their for several weeks. The album is a Certified Platinum. In 1992, they released their album, Deepa which spawned the hit single, "Sweet November" which landed at #1 on Billboards R&B Albums Chart. Other albums released were, A Lil' Sumpin' Sumpin in 1994 and May Day in 1998. After that, the group took a hiatus. They returned in the music scene in 2004 and began to tour the United States.
