About
This group's roots traces back in 1996 when Keith Burns and Ira Dean were working as sidemen for Joe Diffie and Tanya Tucker respectively. The two thought that all they needed was one female vocalist to complete their country trio. Not long after, guitarist/harmonica player from California Heidi Newfield entered the scene as their third vocalist, and Trick Pony was born.
The group managed to get regular gigs down the Southern Club circuit before they went mainstream. In 2000, Trick Pony landed a deal with Warner Brothers in Nashville. It was in the same year that they released their self-titled debut album. "Pour Me", their first single, almost made it to the Billboard Top 10. However, the second single "On A Night Like This", made its way up the Top 5.
The group released their sophomore album in 2002, On A Mission, from which another chart topper with the same name came from.
Their latest album release was on 2005, entitled R.I.D.E., which stands for "Rebellious Individuals Delivering Entertaiment".
In 2006, Heidi Newfield decided to leave the group with the intention of focusing on a solo career. Their new female vocalist, Aubrey Collins stepped into the spot that Newfield left come 2007 and Trick Pony continued doing what they do best--and that's making music!
