Trace Adkins is a former member of the group The New Commitments. He is an American country singer-songwriter and guitarist from Louisiana.

[edit] Early Life

Trace Adkins was born Tracy Darrell Adkins on January 13, 1962 in the south of Springhill in northern Webster Parish, Louisiana. At a young age he was taught be his father to play the guitar and sing. Before he became famous, he worked at a factory where he lost part of his finger on his left hand, but was reattached by docotors. He never went back to work and instead took part in the formation of the group The Commitments where he started playing at the a local clubs and bars in the early 1990's. After doing it for 4 years, finally he was discovered, gained some popularity and signed with Capitol records on 1994.


[edit] Debut Album

Trace Adkins released his debut album "Dreamin' Out Loud" on 1996 which included the hit single "(This Ain't) No Thinkin' Thing" that charted at #1 on the US Country charts. The follow album, "Big Time" and "More" was not as successful as his debut but it was still coupled with some highly successful hits such as "The Rest of Mine" charted at #4 in the US Country charts. His fourth album "Chrome" was released on 2001 which yielded top ten hit in "I'm Tryin'" followed by his fifth "Comin' On Strong". This was followed by a greatest hits collection.


The highly successful album came on the seventh for "Songs About Me" which includes hit single "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" that charted at #2 in the Hot Country charts. The album was eventually certified 2x platinum by the RIAA. His last album released was "Dreamin' Out Loud" led by "(This Ain't) No Thinkin' Thing" that charted #1 on the Hot Country charts also.
