Tonio Ruiz is a musician and producer from Mexico City, better known as the leader of Latin Rock band Qbo.

With over 20 years in the music industry, he is a professional musician, guitarist, singer, composer and arranger. Tonio has recorded over 11 albums throughout his career and produced many more. He has founded two of the most representative rock bands of Mexico and Latin America in recent years, Coda in 1991 and Qbo in 2003, achieving high sales and mainstream success.

As an artist, he has been signed at major record labels like Sony, Polygram, Universal, and EMI. He has traveled across the country playing at all sorts of venues and diverse types of concerts & festivals; as well as within the U.S. and throughout Central America.

On tour with his bands, he has alternated the stage with the likes of Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, Scorpions, Simple Plan, Blur, and Placebo. As a solo artist, he was the opening act for Joe Satriani's two sold-out shows at "Teatro Metropolitan" in Mexico City, being invited at the end of each show by Satch himself to perform Freddie King/Jeff Beck's classic tune "Going Down" in the style of G3 encores.

Since 1997, Tonio has also devoted himself to developing another facet of his career within the industry, as a music producer. He has produced, recorded and mixed records for several independent rock bands in Mexico and Latin America, supporting the grown of the incipient local alternative rock scene with his efforts. Such bands include local progressive metal heroes Agora, and his own band Qbo. Two of his productions have won a place on Rollingstone Magazine's "Top 10 Latin Albums of the Year": Agora's Zona del Silencio (2005) and Qbo's III (2006).

With a career spanning two decades, Tonio is one of the most respected individuals in today's Mexican rock scene. He has devoted his entire life to the Latin Rock movement in Mexico and has been a restless supporter of it. As such, he has become one of the hottest and most requested rock producers in Mexico City.

He is currently promoting his first instrumental solo CD album entitled "The Light from Nowhere", which has been released in Mexico through an independent record label, with both national and international distribution. Meanwhile, he continues to work on new material for a second instrumental album. He also continues to organize guitar clinics and performances throughout the country, both as a solo artist and with his band Qbo, who will begin a support tour for their upcoming record "Angel Caído" on September 2011.
