About
Tom McRae (Jeremy Thomas McRae Blackall) was born on 1969 in Essex, England but was raised in Chelmsford. Tom began singing in the church choir. During his teen years, he would borrow his mother’s guitar and just play. Tom grew up surrounded by the music of U2 and McRae. At 18 years old, he attended Guild Hall University majoring in music politics. He later on began a band and writing his own materials.
He befriended Roger Bechirian, a sound engineer, who taught him the ins and outs. He even helped develop the voice of McRae. In 2001, he released his self-titled debut followed by Just Like Blood in 2003. It earned positive feedbacks. He moved to California to record his third attempt, All Maps Welcome, which was issued in 2005. Two years later, King of Cards hit shelves.
