Three 6 Mafia is an American Hip-Hop group who rose to fame via their hit album, Music Stylez.

Three 6 Mafia was formed in 1991 by "DJ Paul", "Lord Infamous" and "Juicy J" at Memphis. The group was originally called, "Backyard Posse" which later became "Triple Six Mafia". After that, they changed their named to Three 6 Mafia. They were formed through released of many EP's from their own record company, "Prophet Entertainment". After that, they launched their own label called, Hypnotize Minds Records.
The group released their debut album, Mystic Stylez in 1995 under Prophet Records. They also released several more hit album like, Chapter 2: World Domination which features the single, "Tear Da Club Up '97". It chartered at #2 on the US Rap Charts and #7 at the US R&B Charts. Other hit album includes, Three 6 Mafia Presents: Hypnotize Camp Posse.
The next album, When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 released on 2000 was also a big hit. It spawned one hit single, "Tongue Ring" which chartered at #5 on the US Rap Charts and #4 on the US R&B Charts. The album debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart and later became a Certified Platinum. In 2000, they became the first African American music group to win an Academy Award for the song, ""It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp".
Koopsta left the band due to a monetary dispute in 2001. Gangsta left the band too to pursue a solo career. They released their next album, Da Unbreakables in 2003. It issued the single, "Starfly" which features Yung Buck and 8 Ball & MJC.
The band is currently recording their next album, Last 2 Walk which is due to be released on December 4, 2007.
