About
Michelle Branch (born Michelle Jacquet DeSevren Branch on July 2, 1983) is a seven-week premature from Flagstaff, Arizona. Her big break came when her single Everywhere topped the charts in late 2000 and early 2001.
Jessica Harp is an equally talented country music singer/songwriter. She started writing songs at the tender age of 8 and played the guitar at 13. She released an independent album on 2002 entitled Preface.
After Michelle Branch went on hiatus in 2004, she convinced her long-time friend Jessica Harp to start a new music career. Merging two different style in music -- Michelle's pop-rock with Jessica's country style -- resulted to a unique sound combination. This is not the first time for Jessica Harp to work with Michelle Branch since she has collaborated with Branch on her previous efforts.
The duo were signed under Maverick Records and despite a couple of delays, their debut album Stand Still, Look Pretty was finally released on May 2006. The album debuted at number 14 in the US charts. The single Leave the Pieces peaked at #34. It also reached the top spot on the US Hot Country Songs. They've participated in sold out tours with country music artists such as Rascal Flatts and Gary Allan.
The Wreckers were also nominated in the 49th Annual Grammy Awards (2007) for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for the chart-topping single, Leave the Pieces. Plans of going back on the tour were made with Keith Urban but the plan was still tentative due to the recent alcohol rehabilitation of Urban.
