The Way It Is was released on June 21, 2005 under A&M records. The album ranked no.6 on the U.S.Billboard 200 and no.2 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The first single "(I Just Want It) To Be Over" featuring R&B singer Alicia Keys and Kerry Brothers. The single hit no.30 on the U.S. R&B chart. The second single "I Should Have Cheated" ranked no.30 on Billboard's Hot 100. The third single "Love" featuring R&B singer Tyrese peaked no.19 on the Billboard 100 charts. The album was Certified Gold after 17 weeks.
