About
The Walkmen was formed in New York City by "Hamilton Leithauser" on vocals, "Paul Maroon" on guitar, "Walter Martin" on organ, "Peter Bauer" on bass and "Matt Barrick" on drums. They became a band around 2000, but their history together goes back several decades. Hamilton and Walter are first cousins who grew up on the same street; four of the band's five members went to the same Washington, D.C.-area high school. The band released their debut album, Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone in 2000. Their next album, Bows and Arrows was released in 2004 which debuted at number 8 on the Billboard's Heatseekers Chart and was one of the most acclaimed records of that year. In May 2006, their next album, A Hundred Miles Off was released. It features the hit single, "Louisiana".
