The Sweet Escape was released on December 5, 2006 in the United States. The album is led by its hit single "Wind It Up" which was followed up by its second single "The Sweet Escape".

The album charted top five in the United States, Canadian, and UK charts which was subsequently followed by "The Sweet Escape Tour 2007" that started last April 2007 covering a span of four continents.
