About

The Sundays started on 1987 in London, England. The original line-up was Harriet Wheeler (vocalist), David Gavurin (guitarist), Paul Brindley (bassist) and Patrick Hannan (drummer). The band did their very first onstage performance at the Falcoln “Vertigo Club” in 1988. The concert was a huge success that led to a bidding war between record labels. Rough Trade won the bid. The following year, the band’s debut single “Can’t Be Sure” landed at #45 on the U.K. charts.

In 1990, The Sundays released their debut album, Reading, Writing And Arithmetic. It peaked at #4 on the charts. The album was released in America under DGC Records hitting #39 on the modern rock charts. The single “Here’s Where the Story Ends” was played on MTV and radios. In 1991, the band switched to Parlophone Records due to Rough Trade’s financial mismanagement. In 1992, their follow-up album, Blind Was Issued. It was followed by an extensive tour to promote the album. There was a five year hiatus for the band. Finally, in 1997, The Sundays released Static & Silence with the hit single “Summertime”.

Reviews

The Sundays pumps up your day with their songs but they also mellow you down with other tracks. Some of their singles are so fragile, they make great music for quiet dinners. -Mimi 09:27, 29 August 2007 (PST)
