The New Pornographers is a Juno-Award Winning Canadian Indie Rock Band and has rose to fame via their debut album, Mass Romantic.

About

The New Pornographers was formed in 1997 at Vancouver, British Columbia. The band is composed of "Carl Newman" of Zumpano, "John Collins" of The Evaporators, "Dan Bejar" of Destroyer, "Blaine Thurier", "Fisher Rose" and "Neko Case". Carl started the band in 1996 one by one other members have joined the group. They took their official rehearsal in the mid of 1997. However, after the group has completed recording four songs, Case went to Chicago, Blaine made a movie and the other members played with their other bands. In 2000, the band was reunited.


They released their debut album, Mass Romantic on 2000 under Mint Records. The album won a Juno Award for Alternative Album of The Year in 1981. Their next album, Electric Version was released in 2003. Their third album, Twin Cinema was released on 2005. In 2006, the album was short-listed for the inaugural Polaris Music Prize. Their latest album, Challengers was released last August 2007. It features the singles, "My Rights Versus Yours" and "Failsafe". The album debuted at number 34 on the US Billboard 200 and sold 20,000 copies on its first week.
