The Jam is another popular British Band in the 70's along with The Sex Pistols and The Clash. They became an instant superstar releasing several Top Ten Singles. One of their hit single issued was "Thats Entertainment".

The Jam was formed in 1972 at Woking, Surrey, England by "Paul Weller" on guitar and vocals. He formed the band with "Rick Buckler" on drum, "Bruce Foxton" on bass and "Steve Brookes" on guitar while they were still in school. Steve left the band quickly. The group became trio. They performed at local clubs in London and became popular to the public.
They signed their recording contract under Polydor Records in February 1977. After two months, they issued their debut single, "In The City" which chartered at #40 on the UK Charts. In May of that same year, they released their debut album also entitled, In The City. It also features their next single, "All Around The World" which landed at #13 on the UK Charts.
The band's second album, This is The Modern World was released in November 1977 and features the singles, "The Modern World" which reached #36 on the UK Charts and "News of The World" which peaked at #27 on the UK Chart. In November 1978, the group released their next album, All Mod Cons and features the single, "David Watts" and " "'A' Bomb In Wardour Street", "Billy Hunt" and "English Rose".
Their next album, Setting Sons was released in November 1979. The album chartered #137 on the Billboard 200, their first chart album entry in the U.S.. The album features the singles, "The Eton Rifles" which landed #3 on the UK Charts, "Little Boy Soldiers" and "Dreams of Children".
In November 1980, they issued their next album, Sound Affects which features the single, "Thats Entertainment" which landed at #21 on the UK Charts confirming the band's enormous popularity. The album reached #2 on the UK Albums Chart and #72 on the US Billboard Chart. The album is their most successful US Album.
The groups last album, The Gift was issued in March 1982. The album chartered #1 on the UK Albums Chart. It also features the singles, "Town Called Malice" which landed #1 on the UK Singles Chart, "The Bitterest Pill (I Ever Had to Swallow)" reached #2 on the UK Singles Chart and "Beat Surrender" which chartered #1 on the UK Singles Chart. After their album tour, Paul decided to disband the group.
Bruce went solo and released his solo album, Touch Sensitive in 1984. He also joined the band, "Stiff Little Fingers" as a replacement of "Ali McMordie" until January 2006. Rick joined the band, "Time UK". Paul formed another band called, "The Style Council" with "Mike Talbot" until 1989. After that, he pursue his solo career.
