The Flaming Lips is considered one of the Greatest Live Bands Now; the band is an acid-bubblegum band with sweet melodies and blistering noise assaults. The Flaming Lips was acclaimed one of the American alternative rock bands. One of their major hit albums is Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.

The Flaming Lips was formed on 1983 at Oklahoma City. Original members are Wayne Coyne on guitar, his brother Mark Coyne as the lead vocal and Michael Ivins on bass guitar. The band became a regular performer of Blue Note Lounge. In 1984, Richard English joined The Flaming Lips.
When Mark Coyne left the band, Wayne became the lead vocalist of the said band. In 1986, they released their debut album, Hear It Is under Restless Records. In 1987, they released another album, Oh My Gawd!!!...The Flaming Lips. In 1988, Telepathic Surgery was released. After the released, Richard left the band and was replaced by Nathan Roberts. They also recruited Jonathan Donahue as their sound technician.
In 1990, their album, In A Priest Driven Ambulance was released. In 1991, they signed a recording contract under Warner Bros. In 1992, they released their first album, Hit To Death in The Future Head under Warner Bros. After a while, Jonathan left the band to focus on another band Mecury Rev. Nathan also left the band. They were replaced by Ronald Jones and Steven Drodz.
In 1993, they released their album, Transmissions From The Satellite Heart. The album became an instant hit. In 1995, they released Clouds Taste Metallic, it was only a minor hit. In 1996, Ronald left the band. In 1999, their major breakthrough came when they released The Soft Bulletin. It is considered one of the best albums.
In 2002, they released Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots which received good reviews from music industries. The album was considered their first commercial success after twenty years of existing as a band. The album won Best Rock Instrumental Performance under Grammy Awards. In 2004, their song The Psychic Wall of Energy was featured in the soundtrack of the movie SpongeBob SquarePants Movie
In 2005, the band released new single, Mr. Ambulance Driver for the soundtrack of the movie Wedding Crashers. In 2006, they released another album, At War With The Mystics.
