The English Beat are English Reggae Band who rose to fame via their album Special Beat Service.

The English Beat was formed in 1978 by "Dave Wakeling" on guitar and "Ranking Roger" with "Andy Cox" on guitar, "David Steele" on bass and "Everett Moreton" on drums. The group was original called The Beat but had to change its name to The English Beat to avoid confusion with Paul Collins band. Later on, Saxa was added in the line up. Their first single released was "Tears of A Clown". Their debut album, I Just Can't Stop It was released in 1980. It chartered at #3 in UK Charts. The album features the singles, "Mirror in the Bathroom", "Hands Off...She's Mine" and "Best Friend". Their next album, Wha'ppen? was issued in 1981 which features the single, "Doors of Your Heart". The band was disbanded in 1983 and was reformed in 2004.
