The Documentary was released on January 18, 2005 under Interscope records. The album hit no.1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and peaked no.7 on the UK Albums Chart. The album was also the was the tenth best selling record of the year. Several singles are included in the album the first single "Westside Story" reached no.93 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The second single "Dreams" hit no.5 on the Hot Rap Singles chart. The third single "Hate It Or Love It" peaked no.1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart and the fourth single "How We Do" peaked no.2 on the Hot Rap chart.
