The Indie- Pop/Rock band from Los Angeles, California started when frontman Dan Finnerty thought it would be funny to sing I Am Woman on karaoke, since then The Dan Band was born. Specializing in originally female-performed pop songs and adding obscenities and provocative swearing into it, The Dan Band have made cameo appearances in movies like Old School and Starsky & Hutch.

The Dan Band based on Los Angeles, California are signed to Side One Dummy Records. Leading the band is singer/comedian Dan Finnerty, back up singers Gene Reed and John Kozeluh, keys: David Arana, guitar: Marc Strommer, bass: Einar Pedersen and drums: Dave Johnstone. They've played all over the LA area, starting at Largo, and ending up at Avalon (formerly The Palace) and have performed in tv shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Late Show, Last Call with Carson Daley and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Aside from singing, The Dan Band also appeared in movies like Starsky & Hutch where they performed a rendition of Roberta Flack’s Feel Like Making Love and Old School where they did Total Eclipse of the Heart.
It all started with a drunken rendition of Helen Reddy’s I Am Woman one late night in a Toronto karaoke bar where he was accompanied by an acoustic guitarist and a guy on bongos, he eventually put together a full 4-piece band and added 2 guy back up singers. From its humble beginnings, The Dan Band has spread from Tinseltown to New York City, with a spectacular live performance exclusively produced by none other than Steven Spielberg and directed by Charlie’s Angels director McG. It was Dan Finnerty's performance in the movie Old School that drew the attention of Spielberg, he also gives credit to director Todd Phillips, who was the first to step up and use him in his films Old School and Starsky & Hutch.
The band performs renditions of songs from the 80’s and originally female-performed pop songs while adding different beats, obscenities and provocative swearing into it. They have released two albums to date: The Dan Band Live and the Christmas album Ho: A Dan Band Christmas.

- Dan Finnerty and The Dan Band: I Am Woman, the one hour special directed by McG and Executive Produced by Steven Spielberg had a successful run on Bravo, unfortunately the plans to release this special as a DVD have stalled at the moment due to clearance reasons
