About

Released on July 5, 2005 under Goldmind and Atalantic Records, The Cookbook is the sixth studio album of Missy Elliott. The first single released was "Lose Control" where it featured Ciara and Fatman Scoop which eventually won a Grammy on 2006 as the Best Short Form Music Video. Similarly, on 2005 it won an award at the MTV Video Music Award as the Best Hip Hop Video and Best Dance Video categories.

The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard chart but ended being a sales bust barely reaching 600,000 copies sold. Nonetheless, the album received positive reviews from critics and was nominated for a Grammy as the Best Rap Album for 2006.

The second single "Teary Eyed" never saw much success and in early September 2005 Missy Elliott tore her Achilles' tendon while shooting the video for the released of her third single "We Run This". The incident dampened her promotional campaign efforts for The Cookbook.

In early 2006 after her surgery and recovery, Elliott's single and video for "We Run This" was released with heavy airplay on VH1, MTV, and BET.
