About

Kanye West's debut album was considered on of the best albums of the year 2004 by Spin Magazine. The fresh approach of new school sounds and reviving the old tunes makes the album a unique blend of class and style. West has achieved mainstream and commercial appeal with hits like Through The Wire (featuring the Chaka Khan sample), All Falls Down and Jesus Walks. All three singles peaked in the Top 20 on R&B and Hip-Hop charts.

The single Through The Wire was inspired by West's near-fatal car accident in October 2002, after falling asleep at the wheel while driving home from the studio. The lyrics were his feelings at the time of his recovery and rehabilitation process, while his mouth was wired shut.
