The Cheeky Girls is an English Pop Duo who gain their popularity after joining "Popstars: The Rivals". Their single, "Cheeky Song(Touch My Bum)" was released in 2002 and landed #2 on the UK Charts.

The Cheeky Girls was composed of twin sister, "Monica Irimia" and "Gabriela Irimia". The twins were born on October 31, 1982 in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, Romania to "Doru Irimia", a medical doctor and "Margit Irimia", a nurse and midwife. At the age of 3 to 5 years old, both enrolled in the institute of physical education in Cluj were they learned gymnastic. At the age of 6, they started to study swimming and karate lesson.
At the age of 10, they enrolled in Octavian Strola High School of Choreography. While studying, they also had time to performed live at the Romanian and Hungarian Opera Houses. After graduating in 2001, the family went to Rye, East Suxxex, England.
In 2002, they auditioned for "Popstars: The Rivals" in London, The show is about aspiring singers vie for a record deal and are chosen by celebrity judges. After two apperances from the show, all they got is a bad criticism from the judges and failed to make it to another round. They also auditioned for Model Behavior. Unfortunately, like Popstars, they failed to make it after two rounds.
However, the girls were soon approached by several producers and label scouts who were eager to sign them. They signed a recording contract under Multiply Records and they were called, The Cheeky Girls. Their first single, "Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)" was released in December 2, 2002 and chartered at #2 in the UK Charts. The single sold 200,000 copies in just a few months of released. Their second single, "Take Your Shoes Off" was issued in May 2003. Their debut album, Party Time was released in September 2003.
