The Cars are American New Wave band who rose to fame via their hit album, Heartbeat City.

About
The Cars were formed in the late 70's by, Ric Ocasek. Other members include Benjamin Orr for bass, Elliott Easton for guitar, Greg Hawkes for keyboard and David Robinson for drum.
In 1976, the group signed a recording contract under Electra Records. They released their self-titled debut album in 1978, which chartered at number three on the Billboard Pop Album chart. Their follow up album, Panorama was released in 1980. The group bought their own studio in Boston and recorded their third album, Shake it Up.
The Cars took a break to concentrate with their solo careers. Two members, Ric Ocasek and Greg Hawkes has released their debut albums.
In 1984, the group was reunited. They released their hit album, Heartbeat City. They also released their last album, Door To Door in 1987 before they were disbanded in 1988.
