The Caravans is a Gospel Group who produced for hit Gospel Albums including their reunion album, Paved The Way.

About
The Caravans were formed in 1952 at Chicago, Illinois by "Albertina Walker" with "Ora Lee Hopkins", "Elyse Yancey" and "Nellie Grace Daniels". In 1953, "Bessie Griffin" joined the group but left after a year. "Cassietta George" joined in 1954 but left in 1956 but he returned to the group after five years. The group became one of the most popular Gospel Musicians.
They released their debut album, Soul Salvation in 1978. After that, they had an extended hiatus. Their next album, Caravans Sing was released in 1990 while Mary Don't You Weep was released in 1991. After the released of their album, they decided to split up to pursue other solo projects. In 2006, the group did a reunion album entitled, Paved The Way which debuted at #10 in the Billboard Charts and stayed in top 40 for sixteen weeks. The album was dubbed by Billboard Magazine as one of the most memorable releases of 2006.
