About
Alternative rock The Breeders formed in 1998. Kim Deal did The Pixies part time but left them and became the band’s full-time vocalist and guitarist. Kelley Deal (Kim’s twin sister) was in vocals and guitars, Jose Medeles as drummer and percussion and Mando Lopez as bassist. In 1990, they released their debut album, Pod, followed by Last Splash in 1993. The following year, The Breeders joined the Lollapalooza tour.
The band was on a short hiatus. During that time Kelley checked in a rehab clinic for drug possession. Kim began writing songs and ended up having materials for a new album. The band’s temporary split lasted longer than expected. Fans were starting to doubt of them reuniting. When Kelley checked out of rehab she pursued a solo album, the Kellet Deal 6000.
After she toured she went back and brought back The Breeders with an addition of Carrie Bradley on violin. In 1997, the band was seen playing together at Tim Taylor Memorial Benefit Concert. At that time they had a new drummer, Tyler Trent. MacPherson joined Guided by Voices. In 1998, Kelley started working on their third attempt. It was expected on 2000 but Title TK was released in 2002. They toured in Europe and U.S.

- The band got its name from a rock group Deal had formed with her twin sister Kelley Deal in the 1970's.
