About

British pop group The Beta Band began on 1996 in Edinburgh, Scotland. The originial line-up of the band is Stephen Mason (vocals), John Maclean (DJ and sampler) and Robin Jones (drummer). They soon added Richard Greentree (bass). They worked with Brian Cannon as their manager (who also worked with Oasis). In 1997, they issued Champion Versions followed by The Patty Patty Sound in 1998 and Los Amigos del Beta Bandidos.

It was in 1999, when The Beta Band became more serious and released their self-titled debut. The band landed a slot on the Radiohead concert. Around this time, they already started recording their follow-up album, Hot Shots II, which was released in 2001. In 2004, they released their third album, Heroes to Zeros. Just shortly after the release of the album, the Beta Band decided to call it quits. The Best of the Beta Band where you can see them performing together for the last time was released in 2005.

Reviews

  • The Beta Band has funk in their music. They are upbeat and full of energy. They do not need expensive instruments when they play because they already sound great. Mimi 08:30, 23 April 2008 (PST)
