About
The Beach Boys were formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961. It was originally composed of brothers Brian Wilson on keyboards and bass; Dennis Wilson on drums and Carl Wilson on guitar. Their cousin, Mike Love on drums and Alan Jardine on guitar.
Parents of Alan helped the band rent instruments and studio. The band released their single in that same year but failed to reach the US Charts. Before the released of their first album, Alan left the band to attend college and replaced him to David Marks, friend of the Wilson's brothers.
In mid 62, the band released their debut album, Surfin' Safari and reached the top 20 charts. Their next album Surfin, U.S.A released in 1963 went also to the top 10 charts before Al returned from school and resume his place in the group.
By 1966, they had released more than 10 albums, including Pet Sounds, which considered by the critics as the best album of The Beach Boys. Despite Brian Wilson's reclusiveness due to stress and drug-related breakdowns, the band continued to make recordings into the 1980s and had a concert tour in the 90's.
Despite the deaths of two original Beach Boys, Dennis and Carl the bands concert tours is still continuing up to this very day, they are one of the busiest bands on the circuits. Dennis was accidentally drowned in 1983 while diving from his boat as he drunkenly tried to recover items he had previously thrown overboard while Carl died from lung cancer.
