[edit] About
The Bangles is an independent all-woman band. They were formed in Los Angeles, California in 1981, where they were first called as "The Supersonic Bangs." They changed their name to "The Bangs" and changed their name again finally to The Bangles, when a band also name The Bangs from New Jersey, threatened to sue the group.
The original members were Susanna Hoff, Debbi Peterson and Vicki Peterson. They made one music, "Getting Out of Hand" together before Annette Zilinskas joined the group and took over the bass on the year 1982, she also played harmonica. They have done an extended play disc, Bangles. When Zilinikas left the group in 1983, she was replaced by Michael Steele, a former member of The Runaways.
Their first album, "All Over the Place" under Columbia Records was released in the year 1984. The single "Manic Monday" was written by Prince. It became hit at the United States, another composition of Prince for the group was "Kiss" who was also a big hit worldwide. The second album of The Bangles was entitled, "Different Light" with their single "Walk like an Egyptian." It also became a hit and made them a phenomenal group worldwide. That song was always heard on radio and been sold at MTV.
In 1988, The Bangles album, |Everything" became a multi platinum hit and included in that album their biggest hit single entitled "Eternal Flame." On that same year, the band was disbanded. Hoffs decided to have a solo career and Vicki Peterson joins the group The Go-Go's.
In the year 2000, The Bangles were reunited; they had a U.S. Concert Tour. In the year 2001, they did a new album Doll Revolution. In the year 2005, Michael Steele left the group but he was replaced by Abby Travis.
