One of the popular band in the early 60's until the 70's, The Band, was one of the most influential rock groups in the world, their music was embraced by critics alongside with the music of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. One of their albums released is Cahoots.

About

Ronnie Hawkins, who was born in Arkansas, formed a band in 1959 called The Hawks. The members are, Levon Helm who played drums, Scott Cushnie for keyboards and Jimmy Evans. Jimmy left the group early and he was replaced by, Robbie Robertson. Rick Danko joined the group in 1961. Richard Manuel followed. Garth Hudson, a classically trained musician became a member of the group too.

From 1959 until 1963, Ronnie and his band were one of the hottest rock and roll bands in town. Finally, The Hawks parted company with Ronnie Hawkins during the summer of 1963, the singer's at times overbearing personality and ego getting the better of the relationship. The Hawks decided to stay together with their oldest member, Levon Helm. In 1965, Bob Dylan recruited the group for his world tour. Bob changed their name to The Band. The group released their debut album, Music From Big Pink in 1969. The album was widely acclaimed. It has received a good reviews from music critics. After the released of their self-titled second album, the group held their first concert tour.

Their third album, Stage Fright which was released in 1970 was recorded on a stage in Woodstock, New York. Despite encountering problems among the musicians, the group was able to release their album, Cahoots in 1971. They released their next album, Moondog Matinee in 1973. Bob and The Band were reunited in Bob's album, Planet Waves. Another album for the group called, Nothern Lights was released in 1975.

The members started to be involved in their own interest, so they decided to stop touring. Their last album, Islands was released in 1976. After the released, the group decided to part ways. In 1976, the band were regrouped, without Robbie, Robbie Robertson was at the time successful in his solo career. While the band was on tour in 1986, Richard committed suicide at the Florida hotel room. After 16 years, the group released their first new album, Jericho which received good reviews. Their next album wasHigh on The Hog released in 1996. Two years later, they celebrated their 30th anniversary. They released their album, The Dirty South in 2004. In January 2007, they released their compilation album.
