The Avalanches is an Electronic band from Australia. The group was known due to their debut album Since I Left You with its hit single Frontier Psychiatrist.

Electronic pop The Avalanches began on 1997 in Melbourne, Australia. The band originally revovled around punk. Darrin Seltmann and Robbie Chater called themselves the Swiming Monkey Cocks and was shortly followed by Dexter Fabay, Gordon McQuilten and Toni Diblasi. When the band expanded they also added turntables which switched them to dance music and renaming themselves, the Avalanches. In 1997, the band released their debut album, the Rock City, under Trifekta Records. The album caught the interest of Modular. The Avalanches signed in with the Australian label and released El Producto. A seven-tracdk album that included live shows. In 1999 Undersea Community showed up in record bars. James De La Cruz was included in the line-up as keyboard. In 2000, the release of Fronrier Psychiatrist made them even more popular. It received great reviews. They also worked with Madonna on the single "Holiday", The follwing year, Beggars Banquet was released in the U.K. and U.S. later that year.
