About

The cover features Stevens as a cartoon character in a cape held by strings, resembling more of a falling Superman. The album was supposed to be included in Illinois as a double record, but the idea never materialized. Stevens began to finish 21 of the previously abandoned songs that will be included in The Avalanche.

The album debuted in the Billboard Top 200, ranking "#71 since it's release. The track No Man's Land was featured in the closing credits of the 2006 film, Little Miss Sunshine.
