[edit] The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek
The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek is the sophomore album by Christian rock band Relient K. It is often shortened to "Anatomy" by fans of the band. This CD was released on August 28, 2008. It reached #158 on the Billboard 200. This CD has a diverse selection of songs, with their themes ranging from worship of God (For the Moments I Feel Faint, Less is More, and Those Words are Not Enough), perseverance and faith (Pressing On, Breakdown, The Rest Is Up To You), Christian splits and judging (Down in Flames), excuses (Maybe It's Maybeline), persecution for faith (Failure to Excommunicate), and keeping the faith (My Way or the Highway...) all the way to funny songs about cartoons (I'm Lion-O), horses (May the Horse Be With You) and school dances (Sadie Hawkins Dance). There is also a Gold Version of this song that has been mixed to sound like Mmhmm. The sound team that worked on Mmhmm also worked on this version, which includes a music video for the song "Pressing On."

[edit] Trivia
* Maybe It's Maybeline is a direct reference to the make-up brand Maybelline'. It pokes fun at pop culture. Maybelline is spelled wrong purposely. * Pressing On's last line is from The Mary Tyler Show theme song.
* The song Lion Wilson is referring to Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, whom Relient K heavily draws influence from. * May the Horse Be With You is a play on the Star Wars line, "May the Force be with you." It also makes references to Mister Ed.
* Breakfast at Timpani's is referencing Breakfast at Tiffany's.
* Failure to Excommunicate could possibly be referring to a line from the movie Cool Line Luke, "What we've got here is a failure to communicate." * Failure to Excommunicate has a sequel, "Life After Death and Taxes (Failure II)" from the CD Mmhmm.
* Those Words are Not Enough is referencing the 007 movie The World is Not Enough.
* There is a hidden track after Less is More, Skittles and Combos. In this song, Relient K encourages their fans to bring Skittles candies and Combos, which are a mixture of pretzels and cheese, peppers or other foods, to their shows. Fans began to leave them all over the stage for Relient K to find. Later, Relient K told their fans to stop this. Matt Thiessen later said he hated Skittles and didn't know what Combos were.
* On the re-release, "Skittles and Combos" is replaced with another song, "The Ballad of Tim Eddings." Tim Eddings is the original manager of Relient K.
* Matt Hoopes wrote Those Words are Not Enough.
* Originally, the band planned to do a video for Sadie Hawkins Dance that included Gary Coleman, but due to budget cuts, the band ended up doing a quick video for Pressing On.
* This CD includes songs from their demo CD All Work and No Play.
* "I'm Lion-O" and "For the Band" from the Employee of the Month EP have similar beginning chords.
* "Sadie Hawkins Dance" once appeared on the show Smallville.
* "Pressing On" was in an episode of the show What's New Scooby Doo? The episode was called Gold Paw. It also appears on Power Rangers: Ninja Storm, episode "Looming Thunder" and the video game for Big Air Freestyle (GameCube), along with one or more episodes of Pimp My Ride.
[edit] Concerts
The song "Pressing On" is hardly heard at concerts anymore. Shouts from the fans sometimes lead the band to play half of it along with "Softer to Me." Most songs are hardly played at concerts anymore unless requested because the drummer for this CD, Dave Douglas, quit the band.
