About

The-Dream was born in Rockingham, North Carolina and lived with his mother in Atlanta, GA at the age of three. The first instrument he learned playing was the trumpet followed by drums and guitar. He picked up the moniker The-Dream from his uncle at the age of ten, when he was told by the latter to dream big and reach for his goals. But before he became a certified hit-maker, he was first seen playing snare drums in the third grade and performed in a band called Guess Who after high school.

His slow-moving musical career has ended when he landed a deal with Peer Music and met R&B producer Laney Stewart in 2001. Then on, The-Dream has penned several chart-topping hits including B2K's Everything (from the album Pandemonium!) Britney Spears' and Madonna's duet Me Against The Music (from the album In The Zone) J. Holiday's Suffocate and a lot more altogether with co-songwriter Tricky Stewart. Apart from being a songwriter, he moved on to being Nivea's Executive Producer in her sophomore album Complicated (2005), which he eventually end up with and granted a daughter named Navy Talia (2005).

But the biggest thing that ever happened to his songwriting career was when he penned the song Umbrella for Rihanna and Bed for J. Holiday that instantly boost his reputation as a composer.

In 2007, he decided to launched himself as a solo performer via his debut album Lovehate (or Love Me All Summer, Hate Me All Winter) with whom he collaborated with Rihanna, Jay-Z, Fabolous and Andre 3000. The album release date is on December 11 via Island/Def Jam Records.

Despite having a solo album, The-Dream has never stopped composing a song to other artists that includes R. Kelly, Sting, Puddle of Mudd, Mary J. Blige, Celine Dion, Nicole Scherzinger of Pussycat Dolls and his wife, Nivea.
