About

Alternative rock band Taproot began in 1997. The line-up featured Stephen Richards on vocals, Michael DeWolf as guitarist, Philip Lipscomb on bass and Jarrod Montague on drums. The band sent their demotape to Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit. Unexpectedly, Durst called them but took a long time to offer them a deal. Atlantic Records however, offered them a great deal which left Durst feeling bitter.

In 2000, the band released their debut album, Gift. Taproot landed a spot on the Ozzfest tour. The went back to the studio in Los Angeles working on heir follow-up album, Welcome, which was released on 2002. There was a new line-up of the band: D-Hauz (vocals), Mike (guitar), Dan (bass) and Steve (drums). Four months later, D-Hauz left Taproot for 20 Dead Flower Children followed by Dan forming Madhops. Losing hope, Steve joined Taproot and tried to do vocals. They released Something More Than Nothing. J-rod joined the band as the new drummer and Phil as the new bass player.

Reviews

Taproot has catchy songs that has no deeper meaning. They have great lyrics. The band cannot decide if they are heavy or light rock. Taproot is a good band that has nothing special to offer. -Mimi 05:30, 29 July 2007 (PST)
