Taking The Long Way is the seventh album by the female band Dixie Chicks. The album was produced by Rick Rubin who had worked with some bands Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Beastie Boys. The group is the first female band in chart history to have three albums debut at no.1

Taking The Long Way was released on May 23, 2006 under Columbia Records. The album was written by the three girls and some other writers. The album hit number one on both the U.S. pop albums chart and the U.S. country albums chart. The album sold 526,000 copies in the first week of its release in Canada. In Australia the album sold 140,00 copies and stayed for 24 weeks on the Australian Chart. The album has four singles the first single is "Not Ready To Make Nice" which topped no.23 on the Billboard Hot 100. The second single "The Long Way Around" which reahced no.21 on the Canadian Chart. The third single "Lullaby" reached no.76 on the Pop 100 Chart. The fourth single "Everybody Knows" which is like a classic song topped hit no.48 on the Hot Country Songs. The last single "I Hope" was performed on the Shelter from the Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast in 2005. The album also received 5 Grammy Awards nominations that will be given on February 11, 2007 on CBS.
