[edit] About

Add bio here. Tagyerit (tag you're it) was born into the world in 1996 with their first CD release Heavy Construction.

TagYerit is the songwriting team of Rich & Flo Newman. Flo sings and plays her rabbit guitar, Rich plays bass. Several drummers have collaborated on their various recordings. Patrick Lavery ( Heavy Construction); Fred Hazelton (Tubeman) and Jeff "Chicken" Thompson (Gazing Globe). But the magic isn't complete until bluesman Ed Vadas steps behind the recording board as producer along with Greg Steele as engineer. There the songs come alive and take on a life of their own. (The happy conclusion is that the whole is better than the sum of its parts.)

[edit] News

During Heavy Construction's promotional push it received airplay on 6 continents. Guitar Player Magazine placed it on their "Editors Picks List" for 1996, saying "full of the pure joy of words and music" Fast forward ten years to 2006 when TagYerit's song "Subway Surfing" was transformed into a new song on Marc Ecko's video game "Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure" under the title "The Getting Up Anthem" (Atari). Using TagYerit's chorus, producer Charlemagne added beats and Talib Kweli & Rakim rapped over samples of TagYerit's guitar, bass and drums. MTV bought the movie rights to the video game story & as of Jan. 07 has 2 writers working on the movie book. Rich & Flo went down to NYC to the Virgin Records Megastore for the video game release Feb. 14, 2006 and were able to meet Rakim in person - When Rich told Rakim that he & Flo were the band TagYerit, Rakim looked him straight in the face and said, “Respect”. And then graciously said if it weren’t for the music he couldn’t have rapped that way. "The Getting Up Anthem" was one of 5 songs nominated for the 2005 Spike TV Video Game Awards - It lost to 50cent. The song has also been released on vinyl for DJs. In 2006, the sound track to “Getting Up” won the 2006 MTV video game award for best video game soundtrack.

TagYerit released Tubeman in 1999. For their second release, the band took a more laissez faire approach to promotion. Tubeman still found critical acclaim helping TagYerit win Best of Valley (CT River Valley a.k.a "Happy Valley") polls in 2001 & 2002.

In 2007 TagYerit released their 3rd CD Gazing Globe. At this point, the goal for the band is to spend more time in the studio recording more songs and even less time promoting it. The epiphany came when the band realized they were spending so much time building their crazy website that their ability to rehearse and record songs was too easily interrupted.

Rich & Flo decided from the beginning of TagYerit's creation, that the web would be TagYerit's only performance space. i.e. No live shows. Instead they would share their music and other interests thanks to the birth of the world wide web. After all, it was 1996 .... So was born "The Music & Miscellaney of TagYerit" which includes "The Pumpkin Art Gallery"; "The Whole World Toilet Paper Museum"; ""The Art of Bunny Dances" and much more.
