Sugar

Sugar is an American alternative rock band from 1992-1995. The group is a trio composed of vocalist/guitarist Bob Mould, bassist David Barbe and drummer Malcolm Travis.

The trio made their first gig on February 20, 1992 at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, GA. The show was supposedly secret but word of mouth began to spread like virus as they bumped with Athen’s band Roosevelt from start to finish. Eventually, the club was jam-packed and the band now came to be known as Sugar.
On 1992, they released their debut album “Copper Blue” which gained accolades by becoming the Album of the Year on 1992 by NME. Subsequently, an EP titled “Beaster” was followed which became a moderate hit in UK. Their second album File Under: Easy Listening was released on 1994 and reached the top spot in the UK albums charts.
A compilation CD, “Besides” was released on 1995 and the band decided to go separate ways as Barbe wanted to spend more time with his family and go into solo career.
