Songs For Polarbears

Snow Patrol's debut album gained critical acclaim but failed to garner mainstream success. Despite slow sales, the album was heavily promoted by Jeepster Records and the band performed at local pubs in Ireland to promote it as well. Hard work has paid off when the group finally had its own following.

Songs For Polarbears is an Alternative Rock album by Snow Patrol released in August 31, 1998 under Jeepster/Never Records.

[edit] About

Starfighter Pilot was their first single from the album. It garnered local popularity and played on local radios all over Ireland. The band performed relentlessly on small gigs and local pubs to promote the album. Lightbody's cool, calm voice mixes well with all tracks, upbeat or not. Although the record did not gain much album sales, the band was still determined to stay together and create more albums. A local fan base gave the band the a fresh start and inspiration to record their next album, When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up three years later.
