About

Formation

Formed on 1995 under the name Inferiro Breed, after deciding to make their music more medlic they changed the band name to Soilwork. That time they began to work on a demo CD entitled "In Dreams We Fall into the Eternal Lake". Upon a chance encounter with record executive Michael Amott of Arch Enemy fame, the group gave him a copy of the demo which impressed the executive. This led them to be signed to Listenable Records and released their debut album Steelbath Suicide. To promote the album the band toured with Naglfar, Darkane, and Krisium.

On 1999, their second full length album The Chainheart Machine was released which was highly acclaimed. The event resulted in them signing a major record deal with Nuclear Blast touring with Cannibal Corpse and Defleshed in promotion of their album.

A Predator's Portrait and Natural Born Chaos

In 2001, after exhausting themselves on tour they released their third full length album A Predator's Portrait. The album put them in front of the melodic death music scene and has played at the Wacken Open Air Festival. To follow up the success they are having, their fourth album Natural Born Chaos was released 2002. This was also the first time they toured United States extensively with some other famous acts.

Figure Number Five and Stabbing the Drama

Their fifth full length album is Figure Number Five released on June 2003. Again, in promotion they toured extensively with Chimaira and Unearth. And also have a brief tour in Australia.

Stabbing the Drama was released on 2005. The album peaked at 19 on the Finnish charts and gained commercial in the United States entering at 12 and 21 on the Billboard Heatseeker and Independent albums chart respectively.

Their seventh full length album will soon be released on late 2007. The album entitled Sworn to Great Divide.
