About

It was May 26, 1998 when Anggun's second album "Snow On The Sahara" was released under Columbia/Sony France, produced by Erick Benzi, English adaptation made by Nikki Matheson. Snow On The Sahara is a promising debut effort from the adult contemporary Indonesian Diva. Anggun tackles polished ballads, Latin-pop and dance-pop on Snow on the Sahara, demonstrating that she can sing all the styles quite well. However, the predictable material holds her back from ascending to the heights she could reach. Nevertheless, she illustrates enough full-formed talent on the disc to make it a promising debut. The album album was also a major hit in her native country, Indonesia.

Trivia

  • "Snow On The Sahara" recalls the best of Annie Lennox in the rich instrumental textures and soaring vocals of its first single, the title song; and such choice cuts as "Over Their Walls," "A Rose In The Wind," and "Valparaiso." Anggun contributed lyrics to "On The Breath Of An Angel" and to the Indonesian-language song "Selamanya." The album closes with one of its most memorable tracks, her interpretation of the David Bowie classic, "Life On Mars."
