Sneaker Pimps were formed in 1995 at Hartlepool, England in 1995 by "Chris Corner" and "Liam Howe". They recruited, "Kelli Dayton" on vocals. In May 1996, their first single, "Tesko Suicide" was released. The single was included in their debut album, Becoming X under Clean Up Records which was released in that same year. It reached #1 on US Heatseekers. The album spawned the hit singles, "Spin Spin Sugar" which landed at #2 on U.S. Hot Dance Music/Club Play and #21 on UK Singles Chart. The album was named by Q Magazine one of the best albums that year. Their next album, Becoming Remixed was issued in 1998. It chartered at #30 on The UK Albums Chart and #24 on US Heatseekers. Before the released of their next album, Splinter, Kelli left the band. The album peaked at #38 on UK Albums Chart. Their album, Bloodsport was released in 2002 by Tommy Boy Records. It landed at #16 on US Electronic Albums Chart. Their next album is soon to be released this year.

- The groups name was taken from an article the Beastie Boys published in their Grand Royale magazine about a man they hired to track down classic sneakers.
