Silverchair is an Australian Rock band who rose to fame via their hit single, "Tomorrow".

About
Silverchair was formed in 1992 by "Daniel Johns" as the lead singer and guitarist, and "Ben Gillies" as the drummer. Initially, their name was called "Short Elvis". They changed it to "Innocent Criminals". When the two went to Newcastle High School, their classmates Chris Joannore" and "Tobin Finnane" joined the band as their bass and rhythm guitar.
In 1994, "Innocent Criminals" was changed to Silverchair. They signed a recording contract under Sony Music. Their first single, "Tomorrow" spent six weeks at number one on Australian charts.
Their debut album, Frogstomp was released in 1995. Their second album, Freak Show was released in 1997. After graduating from High school, their third album, Neon Ballroom was released in 1999. Their fourth album, Diorama was released in 2002. It was certified platinum.

- Silverchair have had multiple fourth band members for touring including: Tobin Finnane, but he moved overseas before the band became popular worldwide, and after a year away was not allowed back into the group; Sam Holloway during the Neon Ballroom tour; Julian Hamilton and Stuart Hunter during the Diorama tour; and more recently Paul Mac.
- On March 19, 2007, Silverchair became only the third Australian band to have three number 1 singles on the ARIA Charts, the other bands being The Easybeats and The Seekers.
- They also are the only Australian band to have 5 albums debut at #1.
