Shakira is a Columbian singer who first broke into the Latin Music charts in 1995. Since then, she established herself as a crossover star with a groundbreaking blend of pop and rock styles.

Born in real life as Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll on February 2, 1977 at Barranquilla, Colombia. This Columbian singer, dancer, and rock star made her debut on 1995. She is the daughter of a Columbian mother and her dad a Lebanese where her name literally means "woman full of grace" in the Arab langauge.

Shakira left home at 13 to pursue modelling career but end up signing a recording contract with Sony. A short laden success in her local hometown came in after with his first local debut album Magia (Magic) on 1991. The second album Peligro also followed but did not succeed commercially. This incident made her realize that she needs to go back and finish high school.

Until on 1995 she released her breakthrough album, the rock-oriented Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet). The album was buoyed on to top the charts in several Latin countries.

Shakira likes chocloate so much.

Shakira is engaged to Antonio de la Rúa, the son of then president of former Argentina Fernando de la Rúa.

Shakira had with her award-winning Bellydance Superstar Bozenka.

Her dance moves are based on the art of belly dancing, a part of her Lebanese heritage, which she says she learned as a young teen to overcome her shyness.
